This was done separately/after the recovery operation. I used the below link to export the accounts and import them in to my new phone. I just upgraded my phone and want to import all the accounts in my current Authenticator in to the new phone. We manage multple tenants and sub accounts and I have several accounts setup in Microsoft Authenticator. ![]() The second account on the new device, which is one of two total accounts shown, is one that I added manually as a test to see if this is an option. Move Microsoft Authenticator to a new phone. Activate the cloud backup option for your device iCloud Backup (iPhone) or Cloud Backup (Android). Open the Authenticator menutap the three stacked lines (iPhone) or three-dotted icon (Android). These are what are present on my old device and what are not being restored from the backup taken on the old device. Open Microsoft Authenticator on your old device. My passwords and addresses all show up in their respective tabs, but no authenticator accounts, which are used for enabling passwordless authentication via approval of push notifications or generating OTPs. ![]() The issue is simply that when I perform the "recovery" that is offered by the Authenticator app when first setting it up after installing it, none of my accounts show up in the authenticator tab. Thankfully, Microsoft can migrate your authenticator application to a new iPhone or Android phone relatively easily. There isn't an instance in which account recovery is needed. None of the accounts need to be recovered as I can still access them using the backup methods I have in place for each, as well as the Authenticator notifications that still function for all accounts shown for both devices. You'll be asked to approve a notification through the Microsoft Authenticator app, to verify your information. ![]() Follow the on-screen instructions, including using your mobile device to scan the QR code, and then select Next. In the screenshots I have posted the one that has the full list of accounts is the original device and all of those accounts are active and in good standing, the other screenshot that only has 2 accounts listed is the new device. Select Add sign-in method Select Choose a method and then Authenticator app.
